Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure that federal, state and local laws, regulations, rules and codes are observed
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to assess physical conditions and safe work practices
  • Assist with the development of controls for identified hazards, coordinate the implementation of controls from result of hazard analysis. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control systems, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improvement toward elimination of work place accidents and injuries
  • Conduct OSHA training for new and existing employees
  • Coordinate OSHA record-keeping and reporting requirements
  • Compile, analyze, interpret, and report accidents. Review property and injury reports. Assist as necessary with the administration of workers compensation program
  • Assist with the implementation of ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements
  • Purchasing of safety supplies, products or training items as required
  • Self-starter yet able to take direction
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, other ESG employees, and the public using principles of good customer service

 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations regarding occupational health and safety
  • Ability to investigate and report on-the-job accidents and work-related incidents.
  • Ability to identify unsafe working conditions and practices through on-site inspections.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, interpret, and apply technical information, e.g. laws, standards, regulations, and policies relating to occupational health and safety.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Analyze problems; apply logic; identify alternative solutions; project consequences of proposed actions and recommend/implement effective solutions in support of stated goals and objectives and/or recommendations.
  • Qualifications:
  • Associates degree with a minimum 3 years related industry experience in safety and health management and compliance 

License(s) or Certification(s) Required:
Must have a valid driver’s license in the state employed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing some duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
